Great Yarmouth offshore energy campus cost revealed

Council bosses say up to 650 jobs could be created at the campus - and it is crucial the county does not miss out.
In a report which will go before members of the council s cabinet on Monday, March 8, they say: Maritime works are costly, and without public sector support this project will not proceed and we will be less likely to attract the associated investment, economic growth and local jobs.
There are various proposals at other east coast ports and there is a danger that investment will migrate there unless we create a facility of equal or better status.

Work starts on Great Yarmouth's third river crossing

William Adams Way will be widened to create a dual carriageway.
Great Yarmouth s vision for a Third River Crossing, for which construction will begin in 2021 and be finished by 2023.

On the South Denes side the lifting bridge, which will stand around 7m tall, will connect with the existing road network.
Mr Mulholland said the most challenging section would be when it came to working in the river.
The bridge itself is being built in two halves in Belgium and will be floated over by barge.
Installing it will mean completely closing the river to traffic for 72 hours and timing the operation almost to the second. ....

University campus vision for Great Yarmouth under Town Deal

· A new learning centre and university campus, co-located with a new town centre library, offering more ways and opportunities for people of all ages to take their learning and job prospects to the next stage.
(The council has said it will look at other buildings in the town centre if Palmers cannot be secured.)
· A new operations and maintenance centre with business incubator units at South Denes, unlocking and enabling further investment by the energy sector and providing a local base for energy sector start-ups, relocations and growing businesses.
· Restoration and sustainable repurposing of a number of historic buildings, including the Winter Gardens and restoration and adaptation of the Ice House as a National Centre for Arts and Circus. ....
