Crews Plowing Roads as Lake Effect Snow Blankets Erie County

Crews are working to plow roads in Southern Erie County as the Lake Effect snow machine has dropped up to 10 inches of snow in some areas, the Erie County Department of Public Works announced Saturday morning.
The Hamburg District has 7 trucks out plowing. The heaviest snow remains South of Hamburg with snow fall rates at 1”-2” per hour with little visibility. Total accumulation from 12”-15” in the Eden and Boston areas to 15”-18” in the Evans, Angola and North Collins areas.

Code Blue shelters open Wednesday night in Erie County

ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. The Western New York Coalition for the Homeless announced Wednesday morning that several shelters will be open overnight to help anyone in need.
The following shelters will be open overnight:
Lincoln Field House, 10 Quincy Street, Buffalo, 14212
from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Holy Cross, 412 Niagara Street, Buffalo, 14201
from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. (serving men only)
Rural Outreach Center, 765 Olean Road, East Aurora
from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
The Rural Outreach Center and the Lincoln Field House will also serve as daytime warming centers on Thursday.
If you encounter someone on the street during these times the Western New York Coalition for the Homeless asks that you direct them to one of the Code Blue shelters. You can also call 211 to have an outreach team dispatched; outreach teams are dispatched between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. ....

The following shelters will be open overnight:
Lincoln Field House, 10 Quincy Street, Buffalo, 14212
from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m.

from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. (serving men only)
