SUV driver, passenger seriously injured in Route 17 crash

Two people were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a crash involving three vehicles on State Route 17 in Waverly, police said.
Owego-based New York State Police said the crash occurred at 3:50 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Route 17 when an SUV struck a guide rail on the right side of the roadway.
According to accident investigators, the SUV was then struck by a pick-up truck after the SUV crossed into its path in the highway’s left lane. The SUV was then T-boned by a tractor-trailer, police said.
Troopers said the female driver of the SUV and a male passenger were taken to Robert Packer Hospital in serious condition. Officials said off-duty EMS members in the area stopped and assisted the occupants of the vehicle before ambulances arrived. ....

Christmas In The Park hosts outdoor, COVID-19 safe holiday cheer

SOUTH WAVERLY BOROUGH â The lights are back on at the quarter-mile track for Christmas In The Park at the Richard L. Bentley Community Park.
Christmas In The Park was new in 2019 and runs every weekend in December from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The park has been transformed into a holiday scene once again with Christmas lights that wrap around the whole park, put together by organizers Missy Vanness and Richard McConnell.
âWeâre growing, weâre getting donations,â Vanness said, âWeâre taking what we can get and we want to make this the biggest in the area.â ....
