JOHNSON CITY - Carroll Wayne Billheimer, 83, passed away peacefully on June 8th, 2021, in Johnson City, TN, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Born August 9th, 1937 to Herbert and Jessie Billheimer, he had a wonderful childhood growing up in Elizabethton with countless friends to play with who went on to remain lifelong companions. It was in the 6th grade he met Jimmy Hardin; the two would go on to be best friends, one anotherâs Best Man, and at each otherâs side up until Carrollâs passing on Tuesday morning. Carroll managed two paper routes and performed small jobs helping others in the neighborhood from an early age. He graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1956. He lettered in baseball all four years and played on the football team. He continued cheering on the Cyclones through the duration of his life and onto the State Championships in 2019 and 2020. GRAY - Delano âDelâ James Carroll, age 78 of Gray, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in Johnson City, Tennessee. He was a son of the late Sturm and Lillie Hardwick Carroll, born to them on January 20, 1943 in Appalachia, Virginia, his hometown which he loved and was so proud of.
Del was a loving man who loved God and his family. He was the former owner and operator of Antique Village in Johnson City for 15 years. He was an avid collector of vintage corvettes, was an Elvis fan and loved western movies as well as animals. He graduated from Appalachia High School in 1962 and later graduated from Hiwassee College of Madisonville, Tennessee in 1964. He later obtained his Masterâs degree from East Tennessee State University. He taught marketing for 27 years at Elizabethton High School, Sullivan East High School and also in Virginia Beach. He was proud of his education and those he taught.
JOHNSON CITY - Elaine Williams Dunkelberger, age 77, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at NHC Healthcare of Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Fontaine Williams and Nona Davis Williams born to them on February 16, 1943 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Elaine was a member of St. Johnâs Episcopal Church in Johnson City, TN. She graduated from Science Hill High School in 1961 and later Cum Laude from ETSU with a degree in Education. Her warm smile and love of children served her well as an elementary school teacher in both Memphis, TN and Dallas, TX. After returning to Johnson City, she served the community as a member of the Junior League and past president of the Washington-Unicoi-Johnson County Medical Alliance of Johnson City. She continued to use her gift of teaching children by volunteering with the local Kids on the Block Educational Program. Elaine enjoyed being outdoors golfing with her husband and friends and was thrilled to have shot
