Fireworks Prohibited On BLM Lands In New Mexico  
BLM News:
SANTA FE – Due to ongoing fire danger in many parts of the state, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) New Mexico State Office has issued a fire prevention order prohibiting fireworks on BLM-managed lands throughout the state.
The order takes effect Wednesday June 30, 2021, and expires Friday, Dec. 31, 2021.    
“Recent moisture has not alleviated the fire danger in many parts of the state,” Acting State Director Melanie Barnes said. “If you are visiting public lands to celebrate Independence Day, please leave your fireworks at home.”   
A violation of this order is subject to punishment by a fine of not more than $1,000 or imprisonment of not more than 12 months or both. Anyone violating this order will be liable to the United States for damages through either an administrative process or in United States federal court.   ....

Recent storms have brought moisture, but fire danger remains

Recent rain and snow in parts of New Mexico have brought a temporary reprieve from the high fire dangers, but officials warn that the vegetation can dry out quickly and that precautions should be taken to prevent and prepare for wildfire.
“My biggest concern and concern from fire management is that people may become complacent because we have had a little bit of rain,” Teresa Rigby, a fire education and mitigation specialist with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, told
NM Political Report.
She said New Mexico is in fire season and that will continue through June and possibly into July. ....

Exploding target prohibited
SANTA FE, N.M. – The Bureau of Land Management New Mexico State Office has issued a fire prevention order prohibiting the use of exploding targets on BLM-managed lands throughout the state. The order takes effect on March 10, 2021 and expires on Dec. 31, 2021.  
Exploding targets are commercially available binary explosives commonly consisting of ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder. Although both compounds are inert, once mixed, they can be ignited by high-velocity bullets used in target shooting. Once combined they are considered a high explosive by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and cannot be transported per U.S. Dept. of Transportation regulations. ....
