At councilwoman’s event to condemn derogatory comments, speaker calls mayor homophobic slur
Updated Mar 01, 2021;
The event was supposed to address past comments one member of council used against another.
And the speakers mainly did that this past Friday, on the steps of City Hall in Trenton, speaking in support of City Council President Kathy McBride. Last week, fellow council member Jerell Blakeley publicly apologized for calling her an “illiterate crackhead prostitute” last year, after news of the comment surfaced in local media reports.
But the second speaker at the Friday event, Divine Allah, teed off on Mayor Reed Gusciora, describing him as “this white boy mayor, this little f -.” Gusciora is the city’s first openly gay mayor.
Event to address slurs ends up a slurfest

LOGANVILLE, Ga. â Police arrested a South Carolina man who allegedly ran after trying to break in a car at a gas station Saturday morning.
Officers responded to the Marathon station at 4800 Atlanta Highway, Loganville, at about 10:35 a.m. to a report of a man trying to break in a vehicle. Witnesses pointed out the suspect, who was fleeing, and said he had a handgun.
The responding officers chased the suspect and during what was described by a city spokesman as a âlengthy foot pursuit,â the suspect allegedly fired several rounds into the air.
Eventually, though, the suspect was caught at the intersection of Atlanta Highway and the Georgia 81 spur. No one was injured in the chase and police did not fire any shots.
