Coimbatore: Heads of four mutts from across the state have called upon the state authorities not to treat temples on par with other encroachments and demolish them during the encroachment removal drives. Claiming that two temples which were demolished by the Coimbatore corporation along with other encroachments on the bunds of Muthanankulam recently were more than 100 years old, the mutt heads said such actions would erode the confidence people have in the government.
