The Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam has suspended the ‘anataralaya’ darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga in view of the spike in COVID-19 cases.
Temple Executive Officer Bhramaramba on Sunday said that the darshan timings would be restricted from 6.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. Devotees would not be allowed to stay either on the ghat road or at the Mallikarjuna Mahamandapam after 7 p.m. She also advised the devotees to maintain physical distance of up to six feet and cooperate with the temple staff.
She further said that the temple premises would be sanitised with sodium hypochlorite at regular intervals. ....

Amaravati, March 7: Minister for Information and Public Relations Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) said that TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu has no moral right to seek votes from the people of Vijayawada and Guntur corporations, as they have been cheated by promising development in the name of Amaravati during TDP term.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday, the Minister said that TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu was in this predicament because of Goddess Kanaka Durga, who was angered by seeing the plight of farmers and people being deceived in the name of Amravati. That was why TDP had suffered such a deadly defeat, eventually leaving Naidu with no party members to back him. He questioned Chandrababu what he had done for Amaravati, rather than grabbing lands, spending around Rs 3000 Crore on temporary buildings and investing the looted money in Heritage. ....

Temple staff and 40 habitual thieves were questioned

The police cracked the mystery behind the theft of three silver lion statues attached to the chariot of Goddess Kanaka Durga atop Indrakeeladri, which happened a few months ago. A habitual offender has been arrested from West Godavari district, police sources said.
The thief had sold these to a jeweler who melted them. The disappearance of the three silver lions came to light following an audit ordered by the state government on temple properties and tightening of security following the recent incidents of temple attacks. The three silver lions weighed 16 kg. ....
