Wednesday is Grant County Day at the New Mexico Legislature, and despite pandemic rules that bar all but essential staff, credentialed media, and, of course, legislators themselves from the Roundhouse, local government officials and representatives from a range of organizations here will still be pitching the priority needs of the region to legislators virtually.

At the time of compiling this report, the New Mexico Department of Health, announced a new total of 138,659 New Mexico COVID-19 confirmed positive cases statewide, an increase of 700 new cases. In addition, COVID-19 cases recorded locally are as follows: Grant County has increased 12 new cases for a total of 843 positive cases with 314 recovered; Luna County has increased 6 new cases for a total of 2,309 positive cases with 1467 recovered; Hidalgo County remained at a total of 229 total positive cases with 144 recovered; and Catron County has remained at a total of 55 positive cases with 19 recovered. In addition, there are currently 788 COVID-19 hospitalizations statewide.
