Feb 09, 2021, 16:37 IST AP Gram Panchayat Elections 2021: Polling for the first phase of Panchayat Elections passed off peacefully on Tuesday. Elections were conducted in 18 revenue divisions across 12 districts in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The State Election Commission said that there was 81.42 per cent turnout, as as per the Elections schedule, the counting of votes will take place from 4 PM. The election for the deputy sarpanch will be held after the results are declared. As many as 75.55 per cent polling was recorded until 2.30 PM. As of 12:30 PM 62 percent polling was recorded. Webcasting was set up in about 7,000 centres and State Election Officer Girija Shankar monitored from the Command Control Centre through webcasting. ....
Jan 10, 2021, 14:14 IST HYDERABAD: In a bizarre incident, a man from Hyderabad was found lying dead under suspicious circumstances on the railway tracks in Bijapur, Karnataka on Saturday. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Daka Sainath Reddy (30). The Karnataka police personnel inspected the body and found his phone in his pocket, which helped in identifying the person. They immediately informed the family members about his death. As per reports Sainath Redddy was the son of Dwarakanath Reddy and Kalyani who hailed from Duvvuru in Sangam mandal, Nellore district. The victim had completed his degree in hotel management and was running a company, which dealt in shares. ....

DC Image KADAPA: Farmers are deeply concerned over the stringent regulations imposed by the state civil supplies agency regarding procurement of paddy grain from farmers. They are already a worried lot because heavy rains in the harvesting season have discoloured paddy and the produce is being rejected at the government procurement centers either for slight discoloration or in some places due to high humidity. ....
