Warda Patisserie will soon be serving some of Detroit’s best hand-crafted pastries at a second home in Cass Corridor.

is opening another location of her nationally acclaimed patisserie in May, at 70 W. Alexandria, on the ground floor of the Strathmore Apartments. The original shop, on Gratiot in Eastern Market, will remain open, she tells Eater.
Born in Algeria, Bouguettaya celebrates through her seasonal pastries all of the places she’s lived and traveled: North Africa, France, and Asia. Bouguettaya crafts tantalizing tarts, airy focaccia, Algerian treats, and gluten-free tea cakes, sourcing seasonal ingredients from local farmers, when possible. Recent menus included chocolate and halvah cookies, vanilla bean flan financiers, rhubarb galettes, a multilayered Russian honey cake, passionfruit tarts, and a mushroom, dill, and feta quiche. DETROIT Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg virtually stopped by a Detroit’s Economic Club meeting Tuesday to talk about the role of social media in small business growth.
Before the Zoom talk, Sandberg met nine owners of Detroit businesses ranging from skin care to tea. The virtual roundtable was comprised mostly of women and minority business owners. She highlighted their stories as examples of small business ingenuity.

DETROIT – The most precious new Detroiters born Saturday were just handed a pretty cool birth date.
The Detroit Medical Center’s Hutzel Women’s Hospital welcomed several newborn Detroiters on Saturday, March 13 or, better known as 313 Day in the city.
To commemorate the doubly-special occasion, Pure Detroit helped dress the babies in appropriate gear for their first photographs, decking them out in Detroit-themed clothes and accessories.
