'Improved' VFA up for Duterte approval – envoy

To show the magnitude of disproportion in access to the first COVID-19 vaccines being deployed at the start of 2021, a stark contrast was portrayed.
“More than 39 million doses of vaccine have now been administered in at least 49 higher-income countries. Just 25 doses have been given in one lowest-income country. Not 25 million; not 25 thousand; just 25,” World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus lamented.

The government will start negotiations with American biopharmaceutical firm Moderna Inc. on or before December 30 for the allocation of COVID-19 vaccines, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. said.
Locsin said vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. is set to discuss the possible allocation with Moderna next week.
“Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. is gonna start negotiations with American biotech company Moderna on or before Wednesday next week,” Locsin said in an interview on CNN Philippines on Monday. ....
