Heavy rains cause serious flooding in Lao Cai
Heavy rain early on Monday morning has caused serious flooding in many areas in the northern province of Lao Cai.
According to local authorities, up to 117 mm of rain overloaded local drainage systems.
Many families have reported flood water of some 15-35 centimetres inside their houses.
Many roads and streets in the area have also been put under water. Le Thanh Street experienced 80 centimetres of water. Other streets including Tran Hung Dao, Vo Nguyen Giap, Tran Phu were also submerged which caused congestion during morning rush hours.

Vietnam has supplied 800 ventilators, two million surgical masks, 300,000 N95 masks, and other medical equipment to Cambodia to support the country’s fight against COVID-19.
The supplies were handed over during a ceremony chaired by Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh and Cambodian Minister of Health and head of the central committee for COVID-19 prevention and control Mam Bunheng on Wednesday.
Vietnam had previously provided protective gear, medical masks, COVID-19 testing equipment, and US$200,000 to support Cambodia s coronavirus prevention and control efforts.

Seven Vietnamese people trying to unlawfully enter Cambodia from Thailand have been arrested by Cambodian authorities, according to the Vietnamese diplomatic mission in Cambodia.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vu Quang Minh, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Cambodia, on Monday afternoon said that the Vietnamese Consulate General in Battambang was presiding over the coordination with Cambodian authorities, the Vietnamese Embassy in Phnom Penh, and other Vietnamese agencies to handle the case, which happened on Sunday night.
