Susan DeVilder Splash Pad makes list of Park District projects KEWANEE When the state opens a second round of grant money for community infrastructure, the Kewanee Park District wants to be ready. At the last park board meeting, Executive Director Andrew Dwyer provided the board with a list of potential projects that could be included among the applications made to the Rebuild Illinois funding that is to be used to accelerate shovel-ready projects in underserved communities across the state. The capital program has already allotted millions of dollars from the Fast-Track Public Infrastructure Capital Program for development projects that support economic development. ....

Parks prep for election The Star Courier The names of three candidates for the open seat on the Kewanee park board could appear on the April 6 ballot, said Brian Johnson, director of parks and recreation. The deadline for turning over the petition was Dec. 21. On Monday morning, Johnson said he had already received two petitions to fill the open seat, currently held by Commissioner Jim Powell. Powell signaled his intention to run again by returning his petition of 25 signatures, but his name won’t appear first on the ballot. Johnson said that the top position on the ballot will be taken by Paula Kapacinskas, who returned her notarized signatures first. ....
