Speaking to media and supporters at the Duluth Heritage Center on Friday morning, Mike Randolph formally announced his resignation as head coach of the Duluth East High School boys hockey team. Randolph didn t take questions, saying he wanted to focus on the positive memories from his 36 years as a head coach, including 32 at Duluth East. But while thanking the parents of players over his three-plus decades, he did call out the behavior of some parents. ....

January 20, 2021 The cost is $3 per session. With several sessions a week, the goal is to get people to enjoy skating while being socially distant. “Love having families out here to cruise around together, you know,” City of Duluth Recreation Specialist, Nick Budnik says. “Maybe some of the older people are teaching the younger kids how to skate and that sort of thing.” Each session lasts about 45 minutes and attendees are encouraged to bring their own skates. ....
The Duluth Parks and Recreation Department along with the Duluth Heritage Center have reopened the recreational skate program for all ages. The public skating sessions are held a few days a week at a cost of $3 and the sessions are 45 minutes long. Due to COVID-19 Precautions walk ups are not allowed at this time, you must make a reservation and these need to be done 3 days before the date you want to skate. Their will also be a limit of 25 people per session. Temperature checks, and health screenings will be done before each session. All skaters are asked to arrive 10 minutes before their designated skate session to allow for health screenings and also ask that waivers are filled out when you arrive to allow quicker access into the building. Participants will have 10 minutes before and after each session to take skates on and off. ....
