Holland s Tulip Time Festival is back — but with changes

HOLLAND There won t be a parade, immersion garden or carnival, but Tulip Time is slated to return in 2021. An official event schedule was released on Tuesday, March 2, by the Tulip Time organization, which plans the festival of the same name. Since 1929, Holland has blossomed with literally hundreds of thousands of tulips during the festival.  This year s schedule includes a pared-down list of events, including a virtual Tulip Time Run. Registrants will receive a participant bib and medal and can run anytime, anywhere. Running shirts and hoodies will be available. The popular Artisan Market will also be going virtual. The event typically takes place in Centennial Park, but will instead move to the Tulip Time website from Saturday, April 24, through the end of the festival. The application deadline was Sunday, Feb. 28, and selected artists will be informed Friday, March 5.

The health and safety of visitors, volunteers, and the community are of utmost importance to the Tulip Time organization.  Following the CDC directives and guidelines issued by the State of Michigan, which currently stipulate no more than 25 people can gather outdoors at an event, must forego some of Tulip Time s most enduring festival events this year – parades, Dutch Dance performances, and the carnival.

Tulip Time Update Tulip Time will return after being cancelled last year. Due to directives from the CDC some changed are being put in place. Some Tulip Time events have been canceled, however, according to the press release to Fox 17, these events are still happening: The Tulip Time run, which will take place virtually Dockside tours of the “Friends Good Will” ship The annual quilt raffle, which will take place April 15 to May 9 Yoga in the Tulips The Artisan Market, which will be held virtually Downtown walking tours and a scavenger hunt will take place. Potted tulips will be available for purchase soon.

Tulip Time Festival Continues Plans for Scaled-Down 2021 Event By Gary Stevens Mar 2, 2021 4:00 AM HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Nearly a year after the COVID 19 outbreak led the first cancellation of a Tulip Time Festival, organizers are continuing plans for a belated 91 st renewal of Holland’s annual signature event. While the festival announced on Tuesday more activities slated for the period of May 1 st through the 8 th, the biggest disclosure is that those activities are still on for then. The ongoing health situation, with current limitations on public gatherings placed by the state Department of Health and Human Services, led some to believe that a second straight postponement could be a possibility.
