Fredonia student art sales raise over $2,000 for Literacy Volunteers | News, Sports, Jobs

Sales of artwork created by State University at Fredonia Department of Visual Arts and New Media students have provided a financial boost to Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County, a non-profit that provides tutoring services in reading, math, English language and other subjects.
The spring semester art sale, held in-person on April 19 at the Williams Center Multipurpose Room, generated $2,215 for Literacy Volunteers. Students donated the proceeds on Wednesday, April 28.
“It went really well, better than the sale last semester,” said Angeline Ginsberg, a junior majoring in Ceramics from Lindenhurst and one of the show’s organizers. ....

Terrance Brown named Dean of Potter College at WKU

Terrance D. Brown will be the new Dean of Potter College of Arts & Letters at WKU beginning July 1.
Dr. Brown is currently the Founding Executive Director of the School of the Arts at the University of North Alabama in Florence where he provides vision and leadership for the Department of Music, Department of Visual Arts and Design and the Cinematic Arts and Theatre Program.
“Dr. Brown has proven his leadership abilities and we are excited to see him apply those skills in guiding Potter College and working with our other academic leaders as we continue our progress toward the goals set in our comprehensive plan,” WKU President Timothy C. Caboni said. “He understands what it means to be student-centered and how to help students succeed.” ....

FLORENCE â University of North Alabama alumna and Master Pastelist, Elaine Bailey Augustine, is now permanently associated with one of her special places as the schoolâs Art Gallery was named in her honor last week.
The Florence resident has a long history of supporting the arts community, having begun her artistic journey as a child growing up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Throughout high school and college, she honed her skill with color, strength of composition, and a variety of subject matter.Â Augustineâs paintings have earned her national recognition and are held in corporate and private collections worldwide.
Augustine graduated from UNA in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Art. She also attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. ....
