Share Updated: 10:34 PM EDT Jun 28, 2021 Saint Vincent College was evacuated Monday night after a bomb threat was made on a campus building.According to a Saint Vincent College spokesperson, at approximately 7:35 p.m. the campus was notified of a bomb threat with respect to the Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica. The college contacted Pennsylvania State Police, who responded to the campus to investigate. The Basilica, Parish Center, Aurelius Hall and Wimmer Hall on campus were all evacuated and campus was closed as police investigated the threat. Just before 10 p.m., police determined there was not a credible threat to the Basilica or the campus. The evacuation order was then lifted and campus was reopened. There was no word on any arrests.

The Kiski School senior from Avonmore hit the books, weathered the pandemic and scored high enough in a competitive scholarship exam to win an opportunity to attend Saint Vincent College tuition-free for the next four years as one of the winners of the college’s 40th annual Wimmer Scholarship Competition.
About 120 high school students have scored top marks on the college’s highly competitive scholarship exam over the last four decades to win the scholarship named for Boniface Wimmer, the Benedictine archabbot who established Saint Vincent College in 1846.
Today, alumni in that select fraternity include physicians, attorneys, research scientists and even a Saint Vincent professor who earned a doctorate at Princeton and returned to teach at his alma mater.

Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica is the setting for a special virtual installment of the Saint Vincent College Concert Series, with a quartet of musicians performing sacred classics.
“An Intimate Evening in the Sacred Space of the Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica” is available for viewing on the college’s YouTube channel.
The concert by organist J. Christopher Pardini, cellist Anne Martindale Williams, violinist Christopher Wu and baritone Thomas Octave includes classics of sacred music, such as Schubert’s “Ave Maria” and hymns like “Be Still My Soul” and “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.”
