Dubai Police rescue a Spanish family after their yacht broke down off Jumeirah coast


Dubai: Dubai Police have rescued a Spanish family after their yacht broke down near a rock breaker off Jumeirha coast.
The yacht stopped due to a technical glitch but the swift response by the police’s maritime rescue patrols prevented the yacht from drifting and colliding into the rock breaker despite the strong sea currents and high waves.
Distress call
According to Colonel Dr Hassan Suhail Al Suwaidi, Director of Ports Police Station, the Command-and-Control Centre at Dubai Police received a distress call from the Spanish family as their yacht broke down at the sea. The Station, which has across nine marine points across in Dubai, immediately responded to the call and handled the situation with extreme finesse and professionalism , he confirmed. ....

COVID-19: 25,000 cybercrime complaints registered by Dubai Police on E-Crime platform


Dubai: Dubai Police have recorded several cybercrimes amid the COVID-19 pandemic as scammers target victims seeking to buy masks and ventilators.
According to Colonel Saeed Al Hajiri, Director of Cybercrime Department at Dubai Police, the E-Crime platform to report cybercrimes in Dubai played a key role in arresting scammers who took advantage of the pandemic to scam community members.
“At the beginning of the pandemic, gangs promoted online masks and ventilators. They were arrested and referred to the concerned authority for legal action,” said Col Al Hajiri.
According to official records, the complaints and calls related to cybercrimes rose by 3,000 per cent since the launch of the E-Crime platform since three years. ....

Dubai: As part of Dubai Police’s campaign ‘Begging is a Wrong concept of Compassion,’ the Al Raffa Police Station in Bur Dubai has arrested 24 violators, including beggars and street vendors.
Brigadier Ahmed Thani bin Ghalita, Director of Al Raffa Police Station, said that the station joins the campaign’s efforts every year to combat begging in the emirate by assigning working teams to operate according to an integrated security plan, in cooperation with the department responsible for countering infiltrators and other partners to intensify patrols in places expected to be frequented by beggars.

A total of 24 people beggars and street vendors were arrested in Dubai by Al Raffa Police, the police said on social media.
