The prominent Koinange family was not left out in the contest. Lena Koinange, the daughter of Jomo Kenyatta-era minister Mbiyu Koinange and her niece Damaris Wambui declared their bid for the seat on a Jubilee ticket. Mbiyu Koinange, a Kenyatta right-hand man died in 1981. Lena and Damaris abandoned their bid in favour of Kariri Njama who is now the Jubilee candidate. Njama came second in the 2017 polls. His candidature was viewed by the Jubilee Party as the man to beat UDA candidate John Njuguna Wanjiku who is being viewed as his main rival. Our reporter at Karuri High School tallying centre has captured an IEBC screen showing Githinji leading with 4,089 votes. 4,062. A Deltona woman who Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said falsely accused a deputy of unwanted touching is now threatening to sue the sheriff’s office, claiming the unwanted touching and Chitwood s disparaging remarks caused her mental anguish. Prosecutors declined to charge the woman, Tammy Stuck, but in doing so also stated the deputy did nothing wrong in their view. Chitwood also dismissed her claims when contacted by the News-Journal on Monday. Tammy Stuck had claimed she suffered unwanted touching from a sheriff’s deputy on April 22 when she was about to enter a Deltona City Commission meeting along with her husband, Jeff Stuck. Tammy Stuck could not be reached for comment on Monday. ....
