I read with interest Sandra Duffy’s article Irish Examiner, ( Gender Recognition Act is a testament to Ireland’s ability to cherish all our children equally, March 31) expressing her concern about “allegations that the inception of the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) was in some way rushed, underhand or private, and that insufficient consultation with the public was undertaken before its enactment”.
We now know thanks to a report published in November 2019 by legal firm Dentons, with the Thomson Reuters Foundation and IGLYO (International Lesbian, Gay, Transgender Youth Organisation) that there was a concerted campaign to do exactly what this article suggests otherwise.
