Memorial Day is just around the corner, and the Laramie County Sheriff s Office is reminding everyone to buckle up. You ll likely see more law enforcement on the roads as part of Click It or Ticket, Deputy Jeff Barnes said in a press release. This campaign, from May 24 - June 6, reminds drivers and their passengers of the importance of buckling and the legal consequences – including fines – for not wearing a seat belt, Barnes added.
In 2019, 47 unbuckled people died on Wyoming roads, according to Barnes.
Deputy Jeff Barnes says the agency will be collecting unused prescriptions at Laramie County Fire District #1 at 207 E. Allison Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow, April 24. Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands which is dangerous and often tragic, said Barnes. This is a wonderful opportunity to dispose of prescriptions without flushing them into the sewer system, he added.
Barnes says the sheriff s office took in approximately 250 pounds of unused prescriptions during last October s event.

Barnes also encourages motorcyclists to drive with their headlights on and stay out of driver s blind spots. Motorcycles are very hard to see, he said. If cars cannot see you trying to pass, it s very difficult for them to use caution also.
