Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) (MANILA BULLETIN) Over 142,000 low-income families have received their entitled emergency subsidies, worth more than P931 million, the DSWD said. “As of Dec. 17, there are 142,058 beneficiaries who received their emergency subsidy under Bayanihan 2,” it said in a statement. Of the number, 11,480 recipients are from areas under granular lockdown, while 130,578 are additional beneficiaries or those who did not receive Social Amelioration Program (SAP) 1 and 2 subsidies. “The total subsidy distributed to the qualified beneficiaries reached more than P931 million,” the DSWD said. Republic Act No. 11494 or the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act, popularly known as Bayanihan 2 tasks the DSWD to implement the Bayanihan 2 Emergency Subsidy Program (ESP) for low-income, non-formal sector family beneficiaries affected by the declaration of community quarantine measures. ....

DSWD-7 Regional Director Rebecca Geamala said that the Bayanihan 2 is not to be interpreted as SAP 3 or coming after SAP 1 and SAP 2 under the already-lapsed Bayanihan to Heal As One Act, Republic Act No. 11469. Geamala said the DSWD started implementing the Emergency Subsidy Program (ESP) under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act, Republic Act No. 11494 as the agency’s response and recovery intervention to the COVID-19 pandemic. ....
