There are lots of factors to consider when starting a business, including customers, finance and premises – the list goes on.
It’s no wonder that setting up a company can be a daunting prospect but help is at hand.
One of the first ports of call for anyone with an idea for a product or service is often Business Gateway, Scotland’s national business support service, which is run by local councils.
A focus on the energy transition and a green hydrogen hub will form key parts of a £100m plan to boost the economic prosperity of the Orkney, Shetland and the Outer Hebrides islands.
The agreement outlines plans for the UK and Scottish governments to each invest £50m in the future economic prosperity of the three island regions.
The Heads of Terms for the Islands Growth deal includes plans for an Islands Centre for Net Zero, which would support the energy transition for all three island groups.
It is hoped this would create sustainable “green” jobs within the islands for 300 people.
