Government aims to expand Ayushman Bharat through Aadhaar-based eligbility check, issue family IDs May 11, 2021 The National Health Authority’s (NHA) proposal to develop an Aadhaar-based self-verification platform for citizens to check whether they are eligible for the Ayushman Bharat scheme has raised quiet a few eyebrows. The apex health body set up by the entity has proposed to integrate several databases in the backend for users to conduct a self-search to check if he/she is eligible for the Ayushman Bharat scheme and register for the same. According to a tender floated by the National Health Authority, Aadhaar will be mandatory for the intended beneficiary, and for his or her family the portal aims to make use of available family IDs such as ration card, household ID and so on for enrolment. ....
5 hours ago India’s latest report on Non Personal Data, published by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (MEITY) Committee of Experts has defined parameters regarding who can seek Non Personal Data, High Value Datasets, what a community is and who can represent it as a trustee, rights over non personal data, sovereign access to data, meta-data directories, and addressed intellectual property concerns. They’ve exempt entire raw databases from data requests, taken private data access out of the ambit of this framework, and defined purposes for which data can be accessed. Above all, it recommends a separate Non Personal Data legislation for governing NPD. ....
NEW DELHI: The government on Thursday termed as “misleading” and “mischievous” a report that it had directed Facebook to block posts carrying the hashtag #ResignModi – and the social media giant later restored them, saying they had been blocked “by mistake”. The Union ministry of electronics and information technology shared a statement on Koo app, India’s domestic alternative to Twitter, saying, “A story by Wall Street Journal attributing removal of a certain hashtag by Facebook to GOI’s efforts to curb public dissent is misleading on facts and mischievous in intent. Govt has not issued any direction to remove this hashtag. Facebook has also clarified that it was removed by mistake.” ....
