Everyone who wants a COVID-19 vaccine will eventually get one, but people need to be patient, was the message during the Franklin Regional Council of Governments’ biweekly COVID-19 Roundtable on Monday.
“We’re not even in the middle of (vaccinating) yet,” FRCOG Director of Community Services Phoebe Walker told public health officials from around the county. She added that 18 percent of Franklin County residents have received the first dose of the vaccine, while 9 percent have had a second dose.
The good news, she said, is that the number of positive COVID-19 cases reported throughout the county is back to the level they were at before Thanksgiving, when they had started to surge again. ....

(Undated) Only four Western Mass cities and towns are at high risk for COVID-19 on the state’s latest map. Those communities shown in red are Chicopee, Hadley, Ludlow and Springfield. Southampton has been bumped from red to yellow this week, now at moderate risk. Hampshire County had 66 new cases of COVID-19 this week. Franklin County just 8. Hampden County saw 104 new cases.
(Amherst, MA) Students in Amherst and Pelham schools may soon have the opportunity to attend school in person. The three school committees representing the district have voted unanimously to instruct the superintendent to develop a plan in which all students who want it, will be able to finish the year in their school classrooms. Under the plan, all students from kindergarten through second grade would be able to be back in school buildings no later than April 5th. Third through sixth grade by April 12th…with middle and ....
