GREAT FALLS â There was cause for celebration at Great Falls Fire Rescue on Monday, as four firefighters were promoted.
Family members, co-workers, and friends were on hand to congratulate the promotees at Fire Station 1.
A news release from GFFR says that under the direction of Fire Chief Jeremy Jones, each member recited the oath of office for their new respective ranks.
Tim Harris has been with the department since October of 1998, and was minted a new Lieutenant. His wife Holly pinned on his new gold badge.

GREAT FALLS â Maren Reilly took the oath of office on Tuesday and became the first female fire officer at Great Falls Fire Rescue. Fire Chief Jeremy Jones conducted the ceremony, administering the oath and promoting her to the rank of lieutenant. Marenâs husband Eric pinned her new gold lieutenant badge on her uniform, and her parents pinned her new collar brass on.
In 1982, the City of Great Falls hired the first paid female firefighter in the state, breaking barriers and opening doors for women in the modern day fire service industry. But since then, not many women have joined the Great Falls Fire Rescue team.

GREAT FALLS â Great Falls Fire Chief Jeremy Jones announced recently the appointment of Robert Shupe as the City s next Assistant Fire Chief and Mike McIntosh as the City s next Fire Marshal.
A news release says that Shupe replaces Jeremy Jones, who was promoted to Fire Chief in October, and McIntosh replaces Dirk Johnson, who retired in October.
Shupe joined the City of Great Falls as a firefighter in 1995. Over the past 25 years, he has successfully moved through the Great Falls Fire Rescue ranks, including earning the rank of Fire Fighter First Class, Captain, and Battalion Chief. McIntosh joined the City of Great Falls as a firefighter in 2003. He has spent the last seven years in the Fire Prevention Division and was a Captain prior to his promotion to Fire Marshal.
