The World Igbo Congress, WIC, has asked the south-east governors to establish and enforcement team that will help implement its ban on open grazing in the region.
The diaspora Igbo group also suggested that the governors could also transfer the enforcement contract to the Eastern Security Network, ESN, at no cost.
Public Relations Officer of WIC, Basil Onwukwe, said that there was no wrong way of doing the right things, noting that the South-East must support ESN “because volunteering to serve is an immeasurable gift to our nation and they must not be discredited or undermined by anyone.” ....

Pondering the insecurity situation in the country, the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, has again asked President Muhammadu Buhari to act swiftly to put things under control, saying the country was being set on fire under his watch.
Spokesman of the group, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, in a Twitter post on Saturday night, said Nigerians living in any part of the country must be protected.
He also said there would be no attacks on Southerners living in the north as a response to the alleged attack on Northerners in the South.
“Attacking innocent southerners living in the north will not be the right response to attacks on northerners in the south. ....

Barely four days after the Commandant of the Oyo State Security Network Agency otherwise called Amotekun, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (retd.), declared that the Oke Ogun and Ibarapa zone of the state was safe for residents, a 65-year-old farmer has been reportedly killed in Igangan.
Residents of Igangan community in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State were thrown into mourning on Wednesday as Bashiru Akinlotan, a native of the town, was found dead on the farm.
Akinlotan, who was alone at the time of the incident, was suspected to have been strangled by some yet-to-be identified bandits who consequently set his cocoa plantation on fire. ....

The Oyo State House of Assembly has urged Governor Seyi Makinde to inaugurate the Open Grazing Prohibition Task Force in the state for full enforcement of the anti-open rearing and grazing law.
The state lawmakers noted that this would help in curtailing clashes and the increasing spate of killings, kidnappings, banditry, armed robbery, cult clash and other forms of crimes across the state.
The House raised this as part of their resolutions on Tuesday while deliberating on possible ways to stem insecurity in the state.
Babajide Adebayo (Ibadan North 2) and Kazeem Isiaka (Oyo East/West), who jointly sponsored the motion, expressed worries that insecurity has assumed a dangerous dimension in the state with a negative toll on its socio-economic activities. ....

Several lawmakers of the Oyo State house of Assembly, on Tuesday, recounted encounters with hoodlums, kidnappers, herders across the state, urging Governor Seyi Makinde, to urgently assent and see to the implementation of the state’s Open rearing and grazing regulation law, 2019.
The lawmakers decried an increase in killings, kidnappings, herders invasion of farms, crime and criminality in the state while contributing to a motion co-sponsored by Honourable Babajide Adebayo of Ibadan North II constituency and Honourable Tunde Isiaka of Oyo East/West constituency titled: “Stemming the Spike of Insecurity, Killings and Kidnappings in the state,” on Tuesday’s plenary. ....
