Acton Conservation Trust (ACT) spreading word on important Town Meeting vote

Wicked Local
Leading up to Acton Town Meeting, Susan Mitchell-Hardt and the Trustees of the Acton Conservation Trust (ACT) want residents to know about an important vote on June 21 - the opportunity to save the nearly 100 year-old, 51.5 acre Stonefield Farm.
We ve been hanging in there for years and praying for a miracle, which happened this year, said Mitchell-Hardt, president of ACT.
The farm was founded by the Simeone family in 1929 and is considered an Acton landmark. It is located in South Acton along Martin, Stow and Liberty streets, as well as along the Assabet River Rail Trail.
According to Mitchell-Hardt, owners Paul, Carl, and Mike Simeone recently agreed to sell the farm to the Boston Area Gleaners (BAG), a nonprofit food rescue and relief organization. She said BAG has offered Acton a chance to place an agricultural preservation restriction (APR) on all 51.5 acres of the land - which means the land would be permanently kept as farmland. ....

Harwich plans to bring back article to buy land near Hinkley's Pond

HARWICH  Selectmen on Monday promised to bring an article to purchase 31 acres of cranberry bogs and upland that was indefinitely postponed at town meeting Saturday back before the town as quickly as possible.
The intent of town meeting was very clear. They want this done, Selectman Michael MacAskill told the board, which expressed interest in setting up a meeting with the Harwich Conservation Trust, the Real Estate & Open Space Committee and the Community Preservation Committee.
Town meeting voters vented their frustration Saturday when told that the only vote they had was for indefinite postponement after the Community Preservation Committee voted at its meeting the night before not to recommend the article. ....

letters to the editor the cape codder orleans mass

On May 25 I will enthusiastically vote for Bill Henchy for Brewster Planning Board.
I’ve had the honor of meeting Bill and understanding his deep commitment to the town’s people and character.
I bought my home nearly 19 years ago. I chose Brewster for its enchanting country feel and “Olde Cape charm.” At the time I was a civil engineer pursuing a degree in interior design. Thankfully at that young adult age I had the experience to recognize the unique qualities Brewster offered without the additional distance from the bridges. I understood that I could easily change my house but not my location once the investment was made. ....
