New defibrillator unveiled at Open Hearth Park » The Coast 89.7 FM

Sydney’s Open Hearth Park now has an automated external defibrillator available to the public.
The new defibrillator is part of the partnership between Emergency Health Services and the Jordan Boyd Foundation, named for the 16-year-old Bedford native who died during his first practice with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in 2013.
Jordan’s father Stephen Boyd says he hopes the device will never be needed, but if it is, every minute counts and the quick access the device provides is critical to saving a life.
There are currently more than 1,200 defibrillators registered across the province.

As a business reporter, I write about small businesses opening and closing, manufacturing, food and drink, labor issues and economic data. I particularly love writing about the impact of state and federal policy on local businesses. I also do some education reporting, covering colleges in southeastern Connecticut and regional K-12 issues.

HARTFORD, Conn Thursday morning leaders from the Hartford restaurant community were stepping up to serve men in need one bowl at a time.

A restaurant owner in Belgium misses her customers so much she’s started to “serve” drinks to mannequins instead.
Therese Mahieu, the owner of Chez Therese in Rixensart, has made her own dummies with balloon heads and drawn faces on them.
Dressed in full outfits, hats and scarves, the figures sit at tables in the restaurant and are served red wine, according to Reuters.
Ms Mahieu says it gives her a sense of community amid the pandemic restrictions which have forced her restaurant to remain shut since October. ....
