Press Release - Tokyo 2020 Announces details of Tokyo 2020 NIPPON Festival 03/10/21
The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020)
unveiled the updated programme for the “Tokyo 2020 NIPPON Festival” in 2021; this has been revised in light of
the need for COVID-19 countermeasures and the simplified management of the Games. The Festival, an official
cultural programme of the Tokyo 2020 Games, will be held from April to September 2021. The revised content will
follow the original themes of the programme planned for 2020: “Participation and Interaction”, “Towards the
Realisation of an Inclusive Society” and “Reconstruction of the Tohoku Region”. In principle, the events will be

News from WCC Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington will be bursting with all the colours of the rainbow as we celebrate our queer community with two weeks of events and activities for the Pride Festival.
Supported by the Wellington City Council, and organised by groups within the community, the Pride Festival will open on Saturday with a gala evening – He Tāngata, and will include the popular queer fair Out in the City, Pride Ball, and the annual Hīkoi.
The City Council will also be getting involved with a Pride roller disco, hoisting rainbow flags in the city, Wellington libraries will be hosting queer friendly events and activities, there’ll be queer related films on at Space Place, the Cable Car and MFC will be lit up in rainbow glory, and Thorndon Pool will be hosting its inaugural night for trans/gender diverse folks and friends.
