New Denbighshire County Council chair and vice-chair elected


A Rhyl councillor has been elected as Chair of Denbighshire County Council.
Cllr Alan James who represents the Rhyl West ward, will take the reins for the coming municipal year.
His Consort during his term of office will be his wife Mrs Win Mullen-James.
He was elected during the ceremony held at the Annual County Council meeting which was held virtually and at County Hall, Ruthin.
His chosen charities for the coming year are Macmillan Cancer Support and the Rhyl RNLI.
The new Chair will start his charity support, Covid restrictions permitting, with a Lands End to John O’Groats cycle challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support next month. ....

A psychotic man who went on a deadly rampage that devastated two large families – including his own – in the NSW South Coast town of Bega has been found not guilty of murdering his grandmother and a retired policeman due to mental illness.
Murray Deakin, then 20, had already exhibited signs of schizophrenia and was a regular user of cannabis and LSD when he confronted and stabbed his grandparents, Gail and Thomas Winner, at their Bega home about 3pm on June 1, 2018. ....
