Elaine Rae will retire from her position as assistant headteacher and Class 5R teacher at Wensley Fold Academy (Pictures LT) The longest serving member of staff at a Blackburn primary school is to retire after 30 years of service. Elaine Rae will retire from her position as assistant headteacher and Class 5R teacher at Wensley Fold Academy at the end of the summer term. She was described as ‘invaluable member of staff’ by headteacher Donna Simpson. Mrs Rae moved to Wensley Fold in 1991, aged 30, from a school in Salford. The headteacher at the time was Peter Kavanagh Mrs Rae said: “It was a completely different time. We had a one form entry, chalkboards and little technology. I can remember there only being one BBC computer at the time. ....
