MPs approve Smart as TPR chair By Jon Yarker 23 Labour MP Stephen Timms Sarah Smart’s appointment as chair of The Pensions Regulator has received approval from the work and pensions select committee. Smart, who was appointed interim chair earlier this month, was just questioned by the committee about potential conflicts of interests due to her husband’s role at the British Airways pension scheme. At her request, details of Smart’s interests have been published on TPR’s website. The committee have now concluded she has the personal independence and competence for the role. “We wish Mrs Smart every success in her new position and look forward to working with her,” said MP Stephen Timms (pictured), chair of the work and pensions select committee.
