Te Kiteroa Retreat and Historic Homestead has long held a special place in the hearts and minds of the Waimate community. Owners Gary and Ann Dennison, and their daughter Rose Tautari, have been moved by the outpouring of support, well wishes and generosity from the Waimate community, and others across New Zealand and the world, after a fire severely damaged the 1913 homestead on May 15. “Te Kiteroa truly has held a special place and provided wonderful memories for the countless people who have visited, stayed as guests, or called her home over the past 100 years,” the Dennison family said in a statement. ....
A school is urgently looking for a new lollipop lady to help pupils safely cross the road. Black Combe Junior School in Millom is on the lookout for a new school crossing patrol after their current lollipop lady, Miss Fox, announced she was changing jobs. Since recruiting for the role, the school has been struggling to find a replacement and is appealing for a dedicated member of the public to take on the challenge. Headteacher Mrs Dennison said it is imperative the school has a crossing patrol outside the site. PHOTO: SUPPLIED Something for the mind, body and soul is what is on offer through a new venture at Te Kiteroa Lodge, near Waimate. The historic lodge, which is owned by Ann and Gary Dennison, has been run by the couple as a bed and breakfast. But their daughter, Rose Tautari, has teamed up with her mother to take the premises and its native surrounds in a new direction. The goal is to run mini retreats, offering an “immersive experience of meditation, mindfulness, and self-development”, along with mindfood-style talks on interesting topics. ....
