Sri Lankan police have arrested Caroline Jurie, the reigning Mrs World, for snatching the crown from Mrs Sri Lanka World 2020 Pushpika De Silva in an on-stage bust-up. Pushpika De Silva, who won the Mrs Sri Lanka 2021 pageant on Sunday, was supposed to be crowned by former winner Mrs Jurie in a televised ceremony. Mrs Sri Lanka has been left with head injuries after the current Mrs World tried to snatch the crown from her head.
Beauty queen Pushpika De Silva, 31, had been handed this year s title at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Colombo on Sunday.
Before she could leave the stage 2019 s winner Caroline Jurie, 28, who is also Mrs World, threw a spanner in the works. ....

The winner of Sri Lanka s popular beauty pageant, Mrs Sri Lanka , sustained head injuries after a fight broke out on stage during the crowning ceremony. It all started when beauty queen Pushpika De Silva bagged the Mrs Sri Lanka title on Sunday. Moments after Mrs De Silva concluded her victory walk, the reigning Mrs World and 2019 Mrs Sri Lanka, Caroline Jurie, did something unexpected. She snatched the crown from Mrs De Silva s head and awarded it to the first runner-up.
Caroline Jurie also had an explanation for this. In a video uploaded by the Colombo Gazette, Mrs Jurie explained on stage that as per pageant rules a divorced woman cannot hold the title. There is a rule that you have to be married and not divorced. So, I am taking the first step in saying that the crown goes to the first runner-up, she said. ....
