FILED UNDER: Church, Lifestyles VW independent/submitted information First United Methodist Church of Van Wert has selected Jeremy Laukhuf to be its new praise and worship leader. As the praise and worship leader, he will lead music and worship at the casual/contemporary service, currently meeting at 8:30 Sunday mornings.  Laukhuf and his family moved to Van Wert in 2019, and he currently serves as field director for LifeWise Academy (formerly Cross Over the Hill), where he works to help communities nationwide legally teach the Bible during public school hours.

Central Ave., recently collected items for Pregnancy Life Center. The month of April was set aside as Baby Shower month. Items collected were five crib sheets, 13 receiving blankets, seven baby lotions, five baby sunscreen, four packages of pull ups, eight cases of diapers, 17 packages of diapers, and 27 packages of baby wipes. Following a last-minute switch from the Wassenberg Art Center’s Art Park to the center itself, Houg welcomed the approximately 100 masked area residents, both old and young, who attended the event, which was held in conjunction with the YWCA’s mission that it is dedicated to “eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.”
