Rotarians clean up graffiti Rotarian Paul Ratterman paints over graffiti at the carport across from Lahaina Public Library. LAHAINA Over 92 “tags” were scrubbed off walls, fire hydrants, signs, trash cans and other surfaces around Lahaina by members of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise. Additionally, the members painted over graffiti on the Kahoma Stream bridge, the wall of the carport facing the makai Lahaina Public Library lawn, and along the seawall. “We are seeing an epidemic of graffiti in town,” said Theo Morrison, who organized the cleanup. “It must stop.” All tags were documented, and photos were sent to the Maui Police Department for identification. ....

KAANAPALI Theo Morrison will make an in-person presentation at the hybrid meeting of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant at the Royal Lahaina Resort. The meeting will also be available via Zoom for those who wish to view it online. Morrison has been leading community groups in Lahaina for the past 30 years. Foundation seeks input on future of historic Pioneer Mill Co. Office Building By Staff | May 7, 2021 LAHAINA Lahaina Restoration Foundation (LRF) is reaching out to the community for input during the process to create a plan for the future of the historic Pioneer Mill Company Office Building. A virtual meeting was held April 21, and the next Zoom meeting is scheduled for Saturday, May 8, at 2 p.m. The public can access the meeting via phone by calling 1-669-900-9128, or e-mail [email protected] to obtain a link to join the Zoom meeting by computer. Founded in 1860, Pioneer Mill Co. was the first plantation to grow sugar commercially in Lahaina. The company also built one of Hawaii’s first sugar mills. ....

Old Lahaina Courthouse to reopen April 24 By Staff | Apr 16, 2021 The Old Lahaina Courthouse will reopen on April 24. New hours for the historic building will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. LAHAINA Lahaina Restoration Foundation announced the re-opening of the Old Lahaina Courthouse on Saturday, April 24, which coincides with the birthday of the Lahaina Banyan Tree. Closed for a year due to pandemic regulations, the Old Lahaina Courthouse reopening will include giveaways of banyan tree bookmarks and cookies in a banyan tree wrapper, as long as supplies last. The Old Lahaina Courthouse features the Lahaina Heritage Museum on the top floor and the Lahaina Visitor Center and Lahaina Arts Society’s Banyan Tree Gallery on the main floor. ....
