Historic Snowfall Predicted for Denver, but Reader Wonders Where the Storm Is

Weather forecasting has come a long way over the last three decades, says Marty Coniglio. Back in March 1990, when he told his news office that Denver would see a big blizzard in five days, his revelation was met with disbelief. Bigger and better computers doing more calculations led to better forecasts, he says.

On February 22, Denver City Council will consider a proposal to partner with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and install a weather observation station on the Sand Creek Uplands Open Space at the site of the former Stapleton Airport. Ryan Haarer on Why He Left 9News for Real Estate

Haarer s rise in TV news was rapid. He graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State in 2012, then worked at KVOA, the NBC affiliate in Tucson, for a couple of years before landing at 9News in Denver. After three years, he left the outlet to be with his girlfriend, fellow reporter Liz Kotalik, in Phoenix, where he freelanced for CBS s KPHO, but returned not long after when 9News positions opened up for both of them.
