New Delhi: Six members of the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) an extremist group based in Assam were reported to have been killed in an encounter with security forces in the state’s West Karbi Anglong district, bordering Nagaland.
But who are the Dimasas, and what is the DNLA? Here’s a look.

GUWAHATI: At least six Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) extremists were killed on Sunday in an encounter with the police and Assam Rifles in the Dhansiri Area of Karbi Anglong district, a top police official said.
Four AK-47 rifles, as many revolvers, some live grenades, improvised guns and huge rounds of ammunition were found from the slain militants.

Six members of the outlawed Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) were killed in an encounter with security forces near the Assam-Nagaland border early on Sunday, officials said.
A large number of arms and ammunition was recovered from the militants after the gunfight with a joint team of the paramilitary Assam Rifles and the State police.
“In an early morning operation by @assampolice and Assam Rifles, six DNLA terrorists were neutralised in Dhansiripar area of Karbi Anglong district,” tweeted State’s Special Director General of Police G.P. Singh.
