Interior Health remains mum on allegations of manager vacationing in Mexico

Interior Health says it expects all staff to follow strict public health guidance to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Spokesperson Chris Shewchuk made that comment in response to allegations that Kamloops public health manager Leanne Calvin travelled to Mexico over Christmas.
He was asked if Calvin will be punished or forced to resign, and if IH will apologize to other residents who have followed public health guidelines.
He did not answer those questions, but responded by saying human resource matters are confidential.
“Interior Health has advised all staff to follow public health guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, including avoiding non-essential travel at this time. The Provincial Health Officer’s guidance to stay home except for essential travel has been reiterated to all staff on a regular basis,” Shewchuk says. ....

Air Canada suspending operations at YKA indefinitely beginning Jan. 23


Air Canada will be ceasing operations at Kamloops Airport indefinitely effective Jan. 23.
YKA Managing Director Ed Ratuski tells NL News the move is not come as a huge surprise and compares it to a similar move Air Canada took in the spring.
“This notice that we received this morning will see Air Canada’s daily service to Vancouver be suspended indefinitely. It is not unlike what we went through in April and May at the beginning of COVID when Air Canada temporarily suspended service for a two month period at that time,” he said.
“It’s not a complete surprise given the state of the industry right now and given the travel restrictions that were enhanced over the holiday period requiring COVID tests prior to boarding an aircraft of Canada. And then the increasing travel restrictions, inter-provincial that we’re seeing.” ....
