Photo courtesy CM House Twitter/File KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet on Saturday approved an amendment in the police rules and handing over of four hospitals of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to the provincial health department. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presided over a five-hour-long cabinet meeting and took important decisions including procurement of security featured number plates for vehicles and reduced cotton fee from Rs20 to Rs10 per 100kg. The cabinet approved a proposal to take over four KMC hospitals Gizri Maternity Hospital, Sobhraj Maternity Hospital, Gazdarabad General Hospital in district South and Landhi Medical Complex in district Korangi along with their staff and hand them over to the Sindh health department.

ACE summons Dawood University officials to investigate ‘illegal appointments’ July 9, 2021 The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Sindh has initiated an inquiry against the administration and employees of the Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) to investigate the alleged illegal appointments and irregularities in the varsity’s budget. According to the available information, the ACE Karachi East Zone deputy director, Abdul Ghani, who has been inquiring into the matter, has written a letter to DUET Registrar Prof Dr Syed Ali Shah seeking details about the varsity’s vice chancellor (VC) and others. The inquiry officer has written in the letter that he has been tasked with conducting an inquiry against the DUET VC and other employees regarding alleged illegal appointments and other irregularities.
