This semester is proving to be very different to the one most of us had planned. A couple of Edinburgh students have taken this weird semester a step further: they’ve traded in their city flats and moved to the Isle of Cumbrae, a remote island off the west coast of Scotland.
Harry and Olivia, two third years at the University of Edinburgh, upped sticks to the island at the start of this semester. The two were initially planning on moving in together in Edinburgh in January anyway. Online learning made them realise they had no need to physically be near campus. ....

Edinburgh University students are being made to wait up to 12 weeks to get a counsellor using uni mental health services, The Tab Edinburgh can reveal.
Emails obtained by The Tab show that a student using the service only received an appointment today, January 11th, when she initially applied on the 22nd October.
The student had a consultation appointment on the 23rd November to assess her individual risk and was then informed by her counsellor that she would likely not have an appointment until the new year. ....

Following Friday night’s racist attack on an Edinburgh Uni student outside the library, Edinburgh students have reacted by coming together to take a stand against the racism that people of colour face in the city and on campus.
In the past few days, multiple posts, protests and campaigns have been made by students who are outraged that such an incident could happen, especially on university grounds.
Many POC students, particularly East and South East Asian students, now feel unsafe and scared to be alone on campus after the horrific attack. The Facebook group Edinburgh University POC Walking Group has been created in response, with members offering to walk each other to and from the library and around campus. ....
