Humble City Council to take applications for Council Place 3 vacancy Written by Beverly Horner Published: 12 February 2021 On Tuesday, Feb. 9, the Humble City Council held a special meeting to determine how to handle the Council Place 3 vacancy. Former council member, Norman Funderburk, recently resigned his seat on the council and announced his mayoral candidacy. The council unanimously decided to accept applications for citizens interested in serving. The council position awardee will serve a term set to end May 2022. The council can choose to either make an appointment by majority vote or call a special election to fill the vacancy per the guidelines set forth in the City of Humble Home Rule Charter, Section 6, Vacancies on City Council. ....
Adela Holda named Tribune managing editor Written by Tribune Staff Adela Jones Holda has been named the new managing editor of the Tribune. Holda joined the Tribune in May of 2019, where she has worked as both an editorial assistant and, most recently, as an assistant editor in charge of managing and coordinating the Tribune columnists. Holda has a bachelor of arts in economics from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. “I am thrilled to welcome Adela to our management team,” said Cynthia Calvert, owner of the Tribune. “From her first days with us, Adela has proven to be wonderfully efficient, smart and capable. We love her positive attitude and can-do spirit.” ....
Funderburk to run for Humble mayor Written by Community Reports Published: 08 February 2021 Norman Funderburk of Humble has announced his candidacy for the position of mayor of the City of Humble in the election set for May 1, 2021. “I believe that my track record of service in the community speaks to the level of pride, dedication and commitment that I have for the city I love and for its citizens. I have a servant’s heart and want to have a positive impact and make a difference for our community,” Funderburk said in launching his campaign. Funderburk was first elected to Humble City Council in 2014, re-elected in 2016, 2018 and 2020, and was serving in his fourth term at the time he stepped down to run for mayor. ....

Kingwood residents love their dogs, and the universal question is, “Why doesn’t Kingwood have a dog park?” That question was posted on the neighborhood social website Nextdoor recently by a new Kingwood resident and dog lover. The response was, well, overwhelming. Post after post, like-minded Kingwood dog lovers were enthusiastic. Kingwood needs a dog park. Kingwood came close to securing a dog park in 2017 when community activist Robert Rehak, and Dee Price, president of Kingwood Service Association (KSA), formed a committee to investigate a dog park in Kingwood. ....
