After finishing the season 11-14 and falling to Wisconsin in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament, Jim Ferry’s group wasn’t invited to this year’s NIT Tournament.
An up-and-down campaign in college basketball’s toughest conference shut down any hope of Big Dance dreams for the Nittany Lions, but the NIT was still thought to be in the cards for Penn State. The usual 32-team tournament was cut down to 16 this year due to COVID-19 precautions, and Penn State was edged by other solid programs such as Memphis, Ole Miss, and Richmond.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Purdue Sports) Following a big game against No. 21-ranked Minnesota on Saturday, Brandon Newman was named the Big Ten s Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
The 6-foot, 5-inch guard from Valparaiso, Indiana, scored a career-high 29 points with six rebounds and two steals in Purdue s 81-62 win over the Golden Gophers. He was 9-of-14 from the field, 5-of-6 from 3-point range and 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
The Bryce Jordan Center first opened its door on January 6, 1996, making this year the 25th year in the arena’s storied history. The 16,000-seat multi-purpose arena has become a staple of Penn State, as it sits right in the shadow of Beaver Stadium.
The arena was named after the university’s 14th president, Bryce Jordan, who served from 1983 to 1990 and helped secure the funding to build the BJC. He was also instrumental in Penn State’s introduction into the Big Ten toward the end of his tenure.
