APP ISLAMABAD: The government on Tuesday managed to get the Finance Bill 2021, generally known as the federal budget, passed in the National Assembly with comfort as the opposition, which was without its leader Shehbaz Sharif, failed to put up any resistance. A confident-looking Prime Minister Imran Khan attended the proceedings for only 50 minutes and left the assembly hall even before final vote on the budget after realising that his presence was no more required in the house to ensure the presence of the treasury members who had clearly outnumbered the opposition.

Nawaz’s cousin Mian Tariq Shafi dies June 29, 2021 LAHORE: Former premier Nawaz Sharif’s cousin and renowned industrialist Mian Muhammad Tariq Shafi died of cardiac arrest here Monday. He was also the cousin of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif. PMLN sources said he suffered a heart attack which proved fatal. The deceased was also the brother-in-law of PMLN leader and ex-MNA Sohail Zia Butt. The deceased was director of Ittefaq Group of Companies. PMLN President Shehbaz Sharif has postponed his scheduled visit to Islamabad to attend funeral prayers of his cousin. Traders and industrialists’ bodies also expressed grief over the demise of Tariq Shafi, who worked hard for the cause of business community.
