Businesses can apply for grants through Alexandria Area Economic Development Commission. 6:26 pm, Jan. 5, 2021 × More funds are now available to help some Douglas County businesses recoup costs after the latest executive order from the governor’s shutdown and restrictions as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Douglas County commissioners approved a state Business Relief Grant in the amount of $754,292 that will be disbursed to area businesses in the form of an economic development relief grant. The county was eligible to keep a portion of the funds – $18,397 worth – to cover administrative costs, but will put the whole amount toward grants for businesses instead. In addition, the commissioners approved allocating up to $677,746 more if needed. ....
