Robyn Snyder, outgoing Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce board president, said looking back at 2020, it would be easy to focus on the bad.
However, during her speech during the Chamber’s annual celebration Monday, Jan. 18, Snyder said there was plenty last year to be positive about.
She said people were able to spend more quality time with their families, people were able to work from home in their sweats and businesses were able to learn how to be more innovative. ....

Douglas County commissioners approve Business Relief Grant to help local businesses

More funds are now available to help some Douglas County businesses recoup costs after the latest executive order from the governor’s shutdown and restrictions as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Douglas County commissioners approved a state Business Relief Grant in the amount of $754,292 that will be disbursed to area businesses in the form of an economic development relief grant.
The county was eligible to keep a portion of the funds – $18,397 worth – to cover administrative costs, but will put the whole amount toward grants for businesses instead. In addition, the commissioners approved allocating up to $677,746 more if needed. ....
