Updated: 7:10 PM EDT May 19, 2021 By Russ Reed A 5-year-old Massachusetts boy who has overcome cancer twice had the honor of leading Boston Bruins fans in a pregame ritual before their home playoff game against the Washington Capitals Wednesday night.Quinn Waters, a Weymouth native known as The Mighty Quinn, served as the Bruins fan banner captain for Game 3 at TD Garden, the first 2021 Stanley Cup Playoff game to be held in Boston.The team s fan banner captain waves a Bruins flag before games to fire up the fans. Previous fan banner captains include New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman and Liam Fitzgerald, the Fist Bump Kid. QUINCY For Eileen Kerin, being bald was a first, but she was just one of many who had their heads shaved in solidarity with Quinn Waters, 5, of Weymouth. Kerin, of Hyde Park, said she secured more than $3,000 in donations from various friends for a fundraiser for The Mighty Quinn on Sunday. But it all hinged on getting her head shaved. Kerin was not alone as a row of six barbers waited for Quincy and Weymouth police officers, children, men and women to shave it all off at Quincy s Pageant Field. I was fine about it, Kerin said.
