20 BSF jawans test positive | Rajkot News

PALANPUR: At least 20 Border Security Force (BSF) jawans have tested positive for Covid-19 in Banaskantha district over the last few days.
The BSF Batallion 93 of 450 jawans from Nagaland arrived at Palanpur railway station en route Tharad and they were all tested as per the mandatory BSF protocol ahead of posting at the border.
“Initially, seven out of the 450 tested positive. Further tests revealed that total 20 were infected,” said NK Garg, epidemic medical officer, Banaskantha.
Garg said all 20 were asymptomatic and were in good health. “They have been isolated in a school near Tharad town. They are all doing fine,” Garg said. ....

Mother jumps into canal with 4 girls | Rajkot News

Palanpur: A 29-year-old woman jumped into Narmada canal with her four daughters near Dhima village in Tharad taluka of Banaskantha on Saturday. Though locals were able to rescue two of the children, the woman Divaliben Parmar and her two daughters Pinal (9) and Shobha (9 months) drowned in the water.
Bodies of Divaliben, Pinal and Shobha were fished out of the canal after over three hours. The bodies of the deceased were sent to civil hospital in Vav for postmortem, however, the family members and in-laws did want postmortem to be done, said police sources. ....
