A Michigan couple is contributing millions in support of their commitment of changing lives through education.
Bob and Ellen Thompson believe in education’s ability to make a significant difference in someone’s life. Their latest gift of $52 million is to support Thompson Working Families Scholarships (TWFS) at four institutions that partner with the Thompson Foundation. The Thompsons already have contributed $33 million to TWFS and the additional $52 million means more than 5,200 students will receive support. ....

COLUMBIA, Mo. The University of Missouri - Columbia has received a $1 million gift from alumni Bill and Nancy Thompson to support autism research and other child development services.
The gift will establish the Ron Ashworth Endowed Professorship of Child Development, which is named after the longtime board chair of the Thompson Foundation and supporter of the Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders at Mizzou, according to a release.

Thompson Engineering, a multi-disciplined engineering firm with offices in eight Southeastern states, announced Tuesday that the Thompson Foundation, the charitable fund of affiliated companies Thompson Engineering, Watermark Design, and Thompson Consulting Services, awarded its millionth dollar. The Thompson Foundation awards grants to non-profits and scholarships to students across the affiliated companies’ footprint.
